Doing more with less?

The numbers speak for themselves.  The Orange County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement services for a fixed population of over *713,851 citizens and vital support services to the 10 other departments policing the cities that lie within the county's borders. In addition, the Sheriff's Office is responsible for providing law enforcement services to the **51 million tourists that visit the county each year.  The Sheriff's Office provides these services at a cost of $216.62 per citizen.  Refer to the charts below and compare the Sheriff's Office cost per citizen served with the other police departments in the county and state.  Despite the enormous demands on the agency the Sheriff's Office has only 1.85 deputites per 1,000 citizens served (not even considering the tourist population) in service to accomplish this task.  The City of Orlando has 3.09 officers per 1,000, while the City of Edgewood has over twice the manpower, 4.47 officers per 1,000 citizens served.  The numbers clearly show that your Sheriff's Office continues to do more with less.
