Education
Sheriff Beary holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. He is also an honor graduate of the FBI National Academy 143rd Class and a graduate of the FBI National Executive Institute 18th Session. He teaches criminal justice at the University of Central Florida and Florida Metropolitan University, which recently presented him with an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his leadership and community service.
Community Service
Kevin serves on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, the Children's Safety Village, Crimeline, Orlando Fights Back, Central Florida Boy Scouts, Central Florida YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Valencia Community College, and the Tangelo Park Project. He is also Vice President of the Apopka Little League and is a sponsor of the Orange County Police Athletic League.
A Leader In Law Enforcement
Sheriff Beary is Vice President of the Major County Sheriff's Association of America and Chairman of the National Policy Board of G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training). Has has served as President of the Central Florida Criminal Justice Association, Governing Board of the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation and Legislative Chairman of the Florida Sheriff's Association.
In addition, Sheriff Beary has been appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to co-chair the Florida Domestic Security Task Force (Region V) on terrorism. He has also been asked to serve on the Executive Advisory Team for Homeland Security. Sheiff Beary is past president of the Major County Sheriff's Association, Central Florida Criminal Justice Assoication and the Florida SWAT Association. He currently serves on the D.A.R.E. America Operations Advisory Committee and is past chairman of the National Police Board of G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training). Sheriff Beary has been selected by the American Society for Industrial Security as a member of the Society's International Standing Council and Global Terrorism, Political Instability and International Crime. Sheriff Beary also serves on the Office of Domestic Preparedness Executive Working Group for the Savers Program.

Sheriff Beary has been recognized for his dedicated service to our community and his profession. He has received the Silver Beaver Award form the Central Florida Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America. He has been honored by the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Officers. In 1996, the National Rifle Association chose him as the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
Sheriff Beary has received numerous awards for his dedicated service to his community and profession. In 2003 he was named Sheriff of the Year by the National Sheriff's Association. In 2002 he received the Hispanic Community Award and in 2000 received the Police Athletic League Award. He is also the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the Central Florida chapter of the Boy Scouts of America. Family and Faith
Kevin and his wife, Rebekah, have four children: Brittany, Robert, Johnathan, and Elizabeth. The Beary family attends New Hope Presbyterian Church in Mt. Dora, Florida. |
