Parking Enforcement Unit Minimize

The Parking Enforcement Unit (PEU) is a volunteer unit of the Orange County Sheriff's Office providing support to the sector deputies.

The Parking Enforcement Unit originally started as the Volunteer Community on Patrol (VCOP) program in 1994 at the direction of Sheriff Kevin Beary to provide the citizens of Orange County highly trained volunteer parking enforcement officers to enforce the parking laws of Orange County and to assist in other special details. The Unit was renamed the Parking Enforcement Unit in 1997.

The duties of the Parking Enforcement Unit are designed to assist the agency by taking complaints that do not require a deputy to respond. These complaints can be reassigned to the parking officer(s) on duty. This allows the deputy sheriff to provide the citizens of Orange County with better service while insuring that the parking laws are being enforced. The parking enforcement officer may also be called upon to assist in many other situations when directed by a deputy sheriff as allowed under our guidelines.
