The Orange County Sheriff’s Office of Media Relations is proud to professionally serve our residents and media partners with timely responses to all requests. We provide documents, audio and sound interaction with a very short turnaround, unless it entails items outside our span of control. The Office is staffed during normal business hours and has an on-call calendar to assist after hours until 11:00pm.  

Routine media inquiries and records requests are handled as expeditiously as possible during normal business hours. After hours and on weekends, a media relation’s PIO is on-call for OCSO emergencies and for significant breaking news events. After hours the PIO does not have information regarding car crashes (FHP), routine arrests, and crimes not resulting in death or critical injury, or the status of cases being investigated by OCSO (i.e., PIO receiving a call at 3am for status of a robbery from the previous week). We will quickly address these on the following business day.

We work within the letter of the law as per FSS 119, and we will also work within the spirit of that same law to the benefit of all of our media partners, while protecting the exemptions demanded by it.
