The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) recognized our agency as an Excelsior Agency, the first in the State of Florida to receive the Excelsior for the second time. This award was developed as recognition for agencies that have attained certain longevity in accreditation and remain committed to a philosophy of excellence. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, bestowed two prestigious honors on the Orange County Sheriff’s Office as the result of the Gold Standard Assessment conducted by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
The first honor received was the Accreditation with Excellence Award. This award is given to further recognize those agencies with a proven history of excellence in the accreditation process, and serves to provide other agencies seeking accreditation with examples of “best practices” to address compliance, policy development, file maintenance, and other issues relating to the accreditation process.
The Advanced Meritorious Award was the second honor received. This award recognizes 15 years, or more, of continuous commitment to accreditation.
