Citizens Advisory Committee

The Citizens Advisory Committee is a nine-member group made up citizens that meet quarterly.  The Committee members are nominated by the Orange County Mayor, each County Commissioner, the Sheriff, and the police union. Review the policy for more details. If you are interested in volunteering for the committee, please contact your Commissioner.

The committee’s mandate is twofold:

  • To provide a public forum for constructive dialogue between citizens and law enforcement;
  • To study relevant policies and procedures and provide recommendations, if any, for positive change.

Procedures for CAC meeting:

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) will conduct a combination of “in-person” and virtual format.  

Members of the public who wish to speak must attend in person. Please arrive by 5:55 pm.

**Members of the public who wish to view the meeting via Zoom can Register here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.**

Procedure for Public Comments

Written Public Comment 

Please email your comment to [email protected] before 12 PM (noon) the day of the meeting. Include your name, address, phone number and the topic of your public comment in the email. At the beginning of the public comment period, Orange County Sheriff’s Office staff will enter your submission into the public record if it is relevant to the topic being discussed.


In-Person Public Comment

We will provide an opportunity to participate in-person during the public comment session.
