Application and Resume Review

Once your application is submitted, our team will review your résumé to assess your qualifications. Depending on the position, you may be contacted for a brief, informal phone interview, though not all applicants will be interviewed. You will be notified once a decision has been made.

Position Testing

Some positions require testing before moving to the next stage of the hiring process. Positions such as 911 Operators who are required to take the Criticall, Forensics Positions the TKE/Mock Crime Scene, and Sponsored Deputies are required to do the Physical Assessment Test (PAT). 

 
Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA)

Once hired you will need to schedule a Computer Voice Stress Analysis test. The CVSA is a type of Lie Detection test. You will be required to fill out a packet containing various questions of what you may be asked during your session. You may be asked to elaborate some of your answers. 

 
The Background Check

All applicants must receive a Complete Background Check which can take approximately 3-5 Weeks. Background checks include the following:

  • Driving Record
  • Credit Check
  • Criminal History
  • Medical Exam/Drug Screen
  • Psychological Evaluation for certain Positions only (After Conditional Offer)
 
Conditional Offer

Once your background check is complete you will be required to have a medical exam, which will include a drug screening. Certain positions will require a psychiatric evaluation before the hiring process is finalized. 

Final Offer

    • Every second and fourth Monday of each month.

    • 5 Miles in Under 18 Minutes
    • 15 Push-Ups in 1 Minute (Males), 10 Push-Ups in 1 Minute (Females)
    • 25 Sit-Ups in 1 Minute (Males), 17 Sit-Ups in 1 Minute (Females)
  • Voice Stress Analysis
  • Ride-Along (Optional)
  • Complete Background Check
    • Driving Record
    • Credit Check
    • Criminal History
  • Medical Exam/Drug Screen and Psychological Evaluation (After Conditional Offer)

 

Course Information

This program is designed to prepare individuals for entry level positions in law enforcement, such as police officers and deputy sheriffs.

    • Monday thru Thursday
      • 6:00am-5:00pm

Field Training

After the Academy you will go though in-house training. During the Field Training phase, deputy trainees will be assigned to a Field Training Officer (FTO). The FTO will provide training and demonstrate agency approved concepts. Deputy trainees will respond to various types of calls, including:

    • Domestic Violence
    • Sex Crimes
    • Death Investigations
    • Property Crimes
      • Burglaries
      • Robberies
    • Traffic Stops
    • Check on Well-Being
  • Duration
    • 14 Weeks (3 ½ Months)
    • Seven (7) Training Periods
      • Observation (2 Weeks)
      • Period 1-5 (2 Weeks Each)
      • Check Ride (2 Weeks)
