The Orange County Sheriff's Office began its SWAT Team program in 1974 with only five members. Over the last 29 years, we have developed into a 79 member Team. This includes 64 tactical team members, 6 tactical medics and 9 intelligence officers. |

Like all emblems, ours has special symbolism and meaning to us.
The shape of the emblem is a shield, which is our primary purpose, to shield our community from the criminal element.
The five stars represent the original five team members.
The fire on the sword is symbolic of the trial by fire which our team members experience in these high risk situations.
The sword represents our preparation and resolve to defend ourselves and other innocent citizens, should it become necessary.
The latin "Numquam Dubitatio" is translated "Never a doubt". We never doubt in ourselves, each other, our abilities, in our decisions. | |
