Orange County Sheriff's Office Sector 5, also known as Tourist Oriented Policing Sector (T.O.P.S.) is a multifaceted team of deputy sheriff's, detectives, and civilians who address quality of life and crime issues in the sector with an emphasis on our tourist community. The members of this sector incorporate innovative tactics and concepts of community policing. This involves the alliance of law enforcement and the tourist corridor. Six patrol squads and an investigative unit is responsible for proactive patrolling, responding to police calls for service and all general investigations for the Downtown Orange County and surrounding areas of sector 5.
A special unit assigned to sector 5 is the Convention Center Squad. This squad is currently supervised by a sergeant with two corporals and three deputies covering a seven day a week work schedule. This team, along with their partner, the Orange County Security and Transportation Division, is the front line against crime in the Downtown Orange County Community. Their primary mission is the protection of life and property. The squad focuses on crime prevention through the use of uniform presence using bike and foot patrol, segways, and marked patrol units. The Orange County Convention Center Sheriff's Office Unit, in cooperation with our security partners, is committed to providing excellent service to all of our visitors and residents.
