Combat Auto Theft (C.A.T.) Minimize

The C.A.T. program is a voluntary vehicle registration program for the residents of Orange County. By displaying a C.A.T. decal in the rear window of your vehicle, the owner gives law enforcement permission to do an investigative stop of the vehicle during the hours of 1:00AM and 5:00AM to determine if the vehicle has been stolen.  The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida State Legislature have mandated and designed a standard C.A.T. decal to be used in Florida.  This allows for easy recognition of a C.A.T. program participating vehicle in other counties across our state.  This means officers from the Panhandle to the Keys will be on the lookout for stolen autos and the one they find may be yours!  For more information, please contact Senior Programs Coordinator Laura Lang at 407-254-7375 or by email at Laura.Lang@ocfl.net.

Senior Academy Minimize

"As we educate Law Enforcement, Social Services, Judiciary and other elements of our society, it is critical that we also educate our senior citizens." former Attorney General Bob Butterworth.  Sheriff Kevin Beary has recognized the importance of education for all ages and has incorporated the Senior Academy.  The objectives underlying the Senior Academy:  (1) Reducing the prospect of seniors becoming victimized through educational awareness programs;  (2) Reducing seniors' fears of criminal victimization.  The Senior Academy  meets one day a week for approximately three hours and continues for six weeks . What makes this such a unique program is that we bring these classes to you. This class has no physical requirements. The minimum number of students is 15.  The course is free.

Senior Safety Presentations Minimize

The Orange County Sheriff's Office offers free Safety Presentations for all Seniors' in Orange County.    Although surveys consistently show that persons over 65 are victims of crime far less frequently than young people, many senior citizens are so worried about crime that they shut themselves up in their homes and rarely go out. We would like to  come to your location and educate you on how to overcome the fear of being a victim of a crime. The presentation can be as long or short as you dictate. Many points that may be discussed; purse snatchings, pick pocketing, personal attacks, home security, driving in your vehicle, contents of purses and wallets, scams, fraud, harassing/obscene phone calls, etc.  If any organization, neighborhood, church, or any other group would like to hear this valuable information, please contact contact Senior Program Coordinator Laura Lang at 407-254-7375 or by email at laura.lang@ocfl.net.

Triad Minimize

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is proud to be a member of Orange County Triad.  Triad is symbolic of a three-way commitment among the law enforcement, senior citizens and agencies serving them in a community.  They agree to work together to reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly and enhance the delivery of services to older persons.  Triads main purpose is to develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and education programs for our senior community members.  Activities can center on both pre-victimization and post-victimization aspects.  Triad provides a forum to discuss seniors' concerns and fears, identify problems, and develop and implement community-wide solutions. The success of Triad is the establishment of an active S.A.L.T. council. The S.A.L.T. council members are participating seniors who care about the elderly, working hand in hand with law enforcement and social services on the issues of our elderly population.
